“Chardons de Camargue” or “Sun on thistles” Signed Jean Louis Viard

About the Item

Exceptional vintage tapestry signed Jean Louis Viard. Entitled “Sun on thistles” or “Les Chardons de Camargue” in the manner of Jean Lurcat. Woven needlepoint on canvas from the midcentury, circa 1960, France, signed on the lower left by the artist. Showcase a landscape scene in Camargue with a sun shining behind an excited horse. Edited by Corot champs Elysee, Paris. Jean-Louis Viard (Dec 1917-Feb 2009) a French painter, engraver and tapestry maker, born in Orsay and died in Paris. He won the second Rome Grand Prix of intaglio print in 1942, produced numerous exhibitions in France and abroad and appears in many museums.
