French 17th Century Tapestry

About the Item

A 18th Century, or earlier, tapestry is vibrant and in wonderful antique condition. Tapestries were first created in the middle ages to hold in warm in otherwise cold stone buildings, over the years they have become practical traveling pieces of art and craftsmanship. Most tapestries tell religious, mythological or hunting stories. Depicted here is an elaborate hunting scene. There are three animals in the foreground including an ostrich, stag and lion, all symbols of power and the will to hunt. This tapestry is lined with hooks at the top. Be sure to view the detailed images for a closer look at this incredibly beautiful tapestry and its current condition.
