Sine_Qua Woven Tapestry
About the Item
Large hand-woven tapestry made from reclaimed and new materials in the colors of yellow, orange, green, brown, and blue. Each thread tells a story, woven together in a vibrant symphony of multicolored hues that breathe new life into forgotten fabrics. The unique composition and pattern are due to Paula Shubatis’ artistic process of weaving the panels first and then putting them together to create the final piece.
This one-of-a-kind rug is a testament to Paula’s commitment to both craftsmanship and environmental consciousness. Its diverse palette adds warmth and character to any space, while its unique patchwork design invites admiration and intrigue.
Paula Schubatis is a Detroit-based artist, educator, textile designer, and social sculptor. She explores urban landscapes through woven textiles, paint, and found materials, using material remnants of the past to manipulate the tactile experience of the present, in an attempt to “assert connections to the past by strengthening links to the present”.
