About the Item

Panel of tapestry of the middle of the 18th century, workshops of the Manufactures Royales of Aubusson. According to a cardboard of Jean-Baptiste Pillement (1728-1808). The register of this panel is about the attractions of the Chinese. At that time, the themes of the rural Chinese were very often interpreted in the workshops in France and in Flanders. Indeed this type of tapestry panel was very popular in salons. The birds, the flowers and the buildings that are there, the peonies and the pagodas are unique to the Asian continent. A beautiful border reproduces bouquets and garlands of brightly colored flowers enhances this tapestry.
