Vintage Hand Hooked Tapestry of Forest Scene in Green, Yellow, Brown
About the Item
Vintage hand hooked rug in a wonderful depiction of a forest scene with trees and water with men and animals. The rug has a delightful design and colors including green, ivory, lavender, brown, and yellow. We are intrigued with the novelty and the imagination of the maker in creating such a wonderful and rare design in great colors that would make this piece a wonderful wall art.
The hooked rugs from the late 19th and early 20th centuries are made with recycled old material, often used clothing that had been cut into narrow stripes. The foundation of hooked rugs is generally burlap material which the maker uses the stenciling technique to transfer the pattern into the surface. Once the design has been transferred to burlap, it would then be filled with the recycled material stripes and more recently yarn using the hooking technique. Because of the delicacy in the material and construction of vintage hand hooked rugs, they should be used with care. The use of special design and the brilliant colors makes this truly an artistic piece wonderful to be used as a wall art or displayed on a table. Antique Hooked Rugs are a combination of Folk Art Creativity and Simplicity. When it comes to true simplicity and artistic creativity Antique Hooked Rugs have some of the best representations.
