Flowers 'Green/Pink' Skateboard Decks after Andy Warhol

$600per set

About

The Skateroom with the Andy Warhol Foundation set of three skateboard decks 7-ply Canadian Maplewood with screenprint each: 31 H x 8 inches approximate 31 H x 24 inches when installed mounting hardware included edition of 500 (screen-printed signature) © / ® /™ The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Inc. This triptych includes three skateboard decks and comes ready to hang with mounting hardware and instructions. It is from a limited of 500 and each deck features a screenprint signature. A “Certificate of Authenticity” is also included. Warhol's Flower series was a departure from his usual representation of brands which he was making at the time. The series is based on a photograph of hibiscus blossoms that he found in a magazine titled Modern Photography. According to art critic David Bourdon, Warhol’s vibrant manipulation of colors produces a floating effect in his flowers, “like cut-out gouaches by Matisse set adrift on Monet’s lily pond.” It is also said that the series gave rise to the expression “flower power”, against the backdrop of the massive non-violence movement during the 1960s. Our partners at The Skateroom, who collaborated with The Andy Warhol Foundation and the Art Institute of Chicago to make this edition, donate a significant part of their profit to support social initiatives that make the world a better place. For each edition sold, $180 will be donated to support Skateistan, a non-profit that uses skateboarding and education for youth empowerment in Afghanistan, Cambodia and South Africa. This amount is the equivalent of learning supplies for their Skate and Create programs worldwide for one week (including art supplies and basic skate supplies).
