Handmade monumental shell wall-mounted sculpture, in silky smooth white plaster, created by artist Hannah Woodhouse in her London studio. Contemporary design inspired by nature and midcentury European sculpture. Height 19.7" ( 50 cm). In this listing you are purchasing a single wall mounted sculpture, opening to the right, but you can purchase them in mirror image pairs. All our plaster wall-mounted sculptures can be custom colored to a color of your choice if you supply a paint color reference (for an additional charge quoted on an individual order basis). If you do not request our color service, the lights are shipped in our trademark calm white color. Monumental shell wall-mounted sculpture Hannah Woodhouse/2006 (date of design). We run plaster casting workshops in our London studio, during which participants can cast maquettes (small artist models) of our original designs, including Shell, Tulip and Ovoid.

Customization Options

This wall mounted sculpture is shipped in our trademark 'calm white' color. Alternatively you may specify any color of your choice (for an additional charge on an individual order basis). For this we need a RAL paint color reference. Also available in a bronzed (dark brown), ebony (black) or gold leaf finish. Also available opening to the left (mirror image). We also offer Shell (H 15" x W 8.3" x D 6.3"), an image of which is included in this listing to show the difference between the 2.

About The Maker

Hannah Woodhouse

An influential figure in lighting design, Woodhouse has exhibited for many years at Sotheby’s London galleries and her lights adorn some of the world’s most sumptuous interiors. Inspired by mid 20th Century European sculpture, Woodhouse creates her range of hand made contemporary wall lights, wall sconces and made-to-order table and floor lights in bronze, plaster, faux bronze and jesmonite (bio resin). Each wall sconce is hand made by husband and wife duo Hannah Woodhouse and William Denniston in their London studio. They can create custom pieces for yachts, hotels and commercial projects. They also offer plaster casting workshops in the London studio - you can cast maquettes (small sculptural models) of their iconic wall sconces. The sculptural plaster wall sconces are shipped in a matt, ultra smooth soft white plaster. However the plaster wall lights can be customised to a colour of your choice - for this there is a small additional charge and you will need to supply a paint colour reference. The cost of bespoke colouring the plaster wall sconces varies, depending on the number of lights ordered, and is quoted on an individual order basis. Woodhouse’s passion for sculpture can be traced back to the year she spent working in Paris, living in the household of Henri Cartier-Bresson and his wife Martine Franck. Her expressive range of lights and candlesticks draw on the aesthetic influences of mid 20th century European sculpture, hence the name "art wall lights".
