About the Item
The Magnolia design is the first in the hand painted wallpaper collection and is representative of its fragile blossoms and woody stems.
Each panel is a work of fine art, painted with meticulous care and expertise by artist Tarn McLean in the Ocre Designs studio, Queensland, Australia. The designs are painted in a traditional botanical style, rather than a stylised chinoiserie. Each blossom calls attention to the detailed process of botanical painting inspired by Renaissance art and is a gentle reminder of the beauty offered by Mother Nature.
The design is tailored to suit the interior designer or client’s needs, with edits to the coloured background and panel size made to enhance the ultimate experience of a customised, one-off interior. Depending on the scope of the project, additional panels can also be created to ensure the outcome is completely original.
Tarn McLean is an artist, designer and doctor of Philosophy (Fine Art), and founded the fabric and accessories label Ocre Designs in 2008. Her artwork is grounded in colour observation inspired by architecture, fashion, nature and botanical paintings created by her Great, great grandfather Adam Forster which are now held in the Australian National Library.
Her botanical paintings are fine art ‘studies’ that create inspiration for Ocre Designs fabrics and wallpaper collections.
The Magnolia panels are sold individually with prices marked per item.

Ocre Designs
Established in 2008 by artist and designer Tarn McLean, Ocre Designs is an Australian design house, specializing in custom fabric, art and wallpapers. With a focus on artisanal design Ocre's first collection started off with limited edition handbags, with each bag lined in hand-painted fabric. With an emphasis on turning art into beautiful designs Ocre released multiple collections of digitally printed textiles and wallpapers for home furnishings and interiors, with the botanical designs inspired by Tarn's great grandfather Adam Forster, whose paintings are now held in the Australian National Library. All Ocre fabrics and wallpapers are sustainably printed to order in Australia. They’re suitable for residential and commercial interiors and available for retail and trade.
