Not many people are aware that Newark, New Jersey was a major hub for the manufacture of jewelry from the late 1800's until the 1950's. One of the leading companies, the Riker Brothers, has an early history that dates back to 1846. Their pieces are quite sought after and still remain highly collectible today! This stunning bangle bracelet from the Art Nouveau era (ca1900) is a wonderful example of the Riker Brothers' talent! Made of vibrant 14kt yellow gold, the bracelet is a slip-on style bangle, which has a detailed repousse design on the surface that exemplifies the signature Riker style. A row of exotic looking dragons carries around the outside of the bangle, alternating with five luscious ruby cabochons in between. Each dragon is intricately detailed, including a curled tail, scaled wings, and an open fanged mouth revealing a swirled tongue. The natural, unheated rubies have a total approximate carat weight of 12ctw, and are individually bezel set. Stamped inside the bangle is a "14K" stamp beside a small Riker hallmark, which is now no longer fully visible due to normal wear. The bangle's design is very versatile, and would look wonderful worn alone or stacked with other complimentary bracelets. A wonderful Art Nouveau piece by a legendary maker, it would compliment any collection! The inside opening of the bracelet (where a wrist would rest) measures 2 3/8" wide and 2" tall, and would fit nicely on an average sized wrist. The surface of the bracelet measures approximately 3/8" wide, and is 1/4" wide where the rubies rest.

Condition:
Wear consistent with age and use. The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there are no apparent dents or dings to the gold, and no damage to the repousse design. All of the rubies are intact and secure.
