About the Item

An absolutely gorgeous pair of matching bracelets from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! The bangle style bracelets are crafted in 14kt rose gold, and have a simple, yet very stylish design. The bracelets have a squared, oval shape and their black color scheme suggests that they may have originally been worn as mourning jewelry. On the front of each is a single row of faceted onyx stones in a channel setting. The onyx stones have a rich black color and are rectangular in shape with an emerald-style cut. The opposing side of the bracelet adorns a smooth, black enameled surface, complimenting the onyx front perfectly. The bracelets are hinged and seamlessly clasp on the side, where there is a safety chain for added security. Both versatile and fashionable, this bracelet set looks fantastic paired together and could also be worn in a stack of complimentary bangles. Perfect for everyday wear, they would make a gorgeous addition to any collection! The inside of the bracelets (where a wrist would rest) measures 2 1/8" wide and slightly more than 1 5/8" tall. The surface of the bracelet measures slightly less than 1/8" wide and is 1/2" thick. The overall condition of both bracelets is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to either bracelet, and amazingly, both remain in near pristine condition. All of the onyx stones are intact and there is no apparent damage, chips, or scratches in the enameling. The clasps are secure and in good working condition, and both safety chains are intact. There is some surface wear along the inside of one of the bracelets along with some color variation in the gold, likely due to past repair work, however it is not visible when worn, and not unusual for a piece from the Victorian era.
