A rare sterling silver spinner kinetic cuff by Bent Knudsen, Denmark, c. 1960. Marked BENT K, 925S, 340.
This rare kinetic cuff showcases the perfect fusion of Danish innovation and craftsmanship. The dynamic spinner element is incorporated into the center of the bracelet. Bent Knudsen and his wife Anni created several kinetic gold and silver jewels, staying true to their minimalist aesthetic. This innovative design is subtle yet substantial and makes this bracelet a timeless piece.
Bent Knudsen is a renowned Danish silversmith. Born in 1924, he worked for several prominent silversmiths in Copenhagen before joining Hans Hansen’s famous firm in Kolding in 1946. He stayed for ten years. In 1950, he married another creative, Anni (1926-2013). In 1956, Knudsen and Anni opened their own shop in Søndergade. At this time, the two Knudsens focused exclusively on silverwork, designing and making modernist jewelry in geometric shapes with semiprecious stones.
Ginger Moro, author of the book “European Designer Jewelry” describes the couple’s work as “unfailingly elegant and wearable.” Bent and Anni Knudsen’s works are highly prized today and have been exhibited at the Danish Museum of Decorative Arts, among other museums.
This cuff is harder to find that most other pieces by the Knudsens and is in excellent condition.
