Victorian Aesthetic Silver Cuff Bangle With Birds and Flowers, Circa 1880
About the Item
This beautiful Victorian silver cuff bangle was created during the height of the Aesthetic movement during the 1870-80s when silver jewellery was most popular amongst the elites. This bangle has applied yellow and rose gold bird motifs and was highly inspired by ‘Japonaiserie’ which looked to Japanese culture for its inspiration. To the front we see three square panels with intricate borders and at their respective centres a crane, duck and kingfisher either in flight or atop a branch in a classical Japanese naturalistic setting.

MATERIALS – Silver/ gold/ copper
HALLMARK – Unmarked not uncommon for the period tested throughout as silver using touchstone.
CONDITION – In very good condition commensurate with age and use. The front retains all its ornate detailing and no excessive wear to any regions. The reverse has the 1 or two very minor dents but aren’t notice when worn.
