Georges Braque (1882-1963) "Mesopotamia", Bracelet, 1963 Rare, is this 18K gold Necklace named "Mesopotamia", created by Georges Braque (1882-1963), inventor of cubism. It is Signed 'Bijoux De Braque' and numbered 8/8 (edition of 8 pieces). 19.5cm long - Weight : 6.8 grams Can be purchased in a set with the Necklace (see other listing for the demi-parure) This Bracelet comes from the few remaining pieces of the personal collection of Heger de Loewenfeld (jeweler of the Braque Jewels) and is part of the early pieces of Bijoux de Braque, manufactured during the 1960's. All Braque Jewels were first designed as gouaches signed by Georges Braque. The "Mesopotamia" Gouache is pictured among the items photos. Very beautiful Georges Braque jewel, perfectly wearable, rarely found on the market, as only 8 pieces were manufactured. "Bijoux de Braque" is a project of the famous french painter Braque, who designed jewelry in the last three years of his life, from 1960 to 1963. All items of this collection are made after Braque major career works he has chosen to be transposed in jewels and precious sculptures with the help of a Jeweler and Stonecutter, Heger de Loewenfeld. The project ended up as an exhibition at the "palais du Louvre" in Paris from march to may 1963 (Photo 7) There are approximatively 100 gouaches, listed in the book "Les Metamorphoses de Braque" by Heger de Loewenfeld and Raphael de Cuttoli. All subjects are renamed after Greek Mythology characters.
