About the Item

A fob is an adornment or a seal that hangs from the ribbon or chain of a pocket watch. Its purpose is to decorate or add weight to the watch chain itself making it easier for the watch to be withdrawn from a pocket. A spinner or swivel fob has two or more plaques that can be turned or swiveled within a moveable bracket. This allows the wearer a choice as to which face is displayed prominently! The fob would have been used to seal the wax of a letter or note. An absolutely gorgeous and unusual horse head fob bracelet from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This unique bracelet is comprised of intertwined, sterling silver double links that come together at a push clasp that is portrayed by a buckle. The strap of the buckle is made of textured sterling silver, while the buckle is made of 15kt yellow gold. The other ends of the sterling links connect at a gold horse bit link and hanging from the center is a large horse head fob. The head of the horse is made of sterling silver, while the reins, headpiece, and noseband are all made of 15kt yellow gold. The horse is highly detailed with a flowing mane and a winner?s garland that displays both sterling and gold detailing. The bottom of the horse head is round in shape and holds a smooth, bezel set carnelian stone stamp. A striking piece, this fob bracelet is very unusual and would be perfect for the Victorian horse collector! Measurements: The chain measures approximately 7 3/4" in length and is 3/4" at the widest point. The horse head fob hangs approximately 1 3/4" long and is 1? at the widest point. The agate stone has a diameter of 5/8?.

Condition:
The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no serious damage to the sterling chain or fob or to the carnelian stone. There is some surface wear to the gold, but this is not noticeable when worn.
