This fine and impressive antique gold bracelet has been crafted in 18 karat yellow and rose gold. The bracelet is composed of fourteen square shaped links. Each of the yellow gold links are ornamented with an 18 karat rose gold faceted dome. The links are bordered with a pierced decorated and rope twist decoration. An exceptional Georgian 20 karat gold round belcher link bracelet. Each link is chased with either star or forget me knot motifs. The scroll engraved padlock is set with five turquoise stones, set as a forget me knot, so significant as the plaited hair in the back of the locket reveals. A star-spangled barrel clasp completes this superb example of the Georgian art. A safety chain is fitted for security. The Georgian Chain There is no other item of jewellery more distinctly Georgian than the long gold chain of woven, knitted, engraved or stamped out links usually joined end to end with a decorative clasp such as an outstretched hand or a barrel studded with tiny gemstones. The more intricate of these might take many weeks to make. The pattern of the links on Georgian chains reveal an endless array of stamped dots, stars, stripes or circles that were impressed on to fine gold sheeting and almost seamlessly joined together. One of the most compelling 18th century is this young ginger haired girl with voluminous red curls. The parchment miniature is set in 18kt gold. Her features are fine, her eyes full of life and her smile innocent. Demurely attired as a young lady of a high society family, her dress insert is tied with a blue ribbon revealing only a bit of neck. The tightly woven hair bracelet is in pristine condition and is clearly the hair of the subject as the color is exact. Sadly the miniature is not signed on the front. Often paintings such as this are signed on the reverse. As the portrait is encased the artist remains unknown. It is certainly painted by a known miniaturist of the day rather than a naive traveling artist. The painting style is European, either English or Irish.
