18th C Ruby and Diamond Bow Brooch
About the Item
This rare and exquisite 18th C jewel is designed as a flowing ribbon set with 24 gemmy raspberry red table-cut rubies, draped with 16 shimmering peruzzi and rose cut diamonds and accented with 4 deep red garnets. This brooch has been beautifully hand-fabricated in silver and rose gold with its original, soft, time aged patina. A delightful piece of history.
Measurements: 2 1/4" wide x 2 3/8" long
Notes: It's possible that this brooch was once a slide as the c-clap and hinge are both mounted on gold pads, indicating repair or replacement in antiquity. Please note there is a chip in the tip of the diamond located in the bottom drop.
