A fine and impressive vintage French 2.71 carat chrysoprase, 0.16 carat diamond and 0.07 carat ruby, 18 karat yellow gold bird brooch; part of our diverse gemstone jewellery collections. This fine and impressive gemstone brooch has been crafted in 18k yellow and white gold. This vintage brooch has been modelled in the form of two stylised birds perched on a closed umbrella. The body of each bird is ornamented with an oval cabochon cut chrysoprase. The yellow gold simplified wirework style heads incorporate eyes represented by claw set round faceted rubies, with a combined carat weight of 0.07cts. The heads are further embellished with scalloped white gold wirework designs accented with six claw set eight-cut diamonds. Each bird is embellished with tapering wings and tails, accented with concertina detailing. The tapering baluster style umbrella features white gold accents to the curved handle and tip. The 1960s brooch secures to the reverse with a hinged pin and sheath style fastening. The reverse of the setting is hallmarked with the French maker's mark and 18k gold mark (eagle's head). This French gemstone brooch is supplied with an IDGL diamond and gemstone grading report card. Images do not always reflect the true colour and brilliance of gemstones and diamonds. This fine brooch has a pierced decorated elliptical frame, displaying two floral motifs. The brooch is ornamented to the center with an impressive bezel set cabochon cut opal. This stunning central gemstone is flanked with flower motifs, each ornamented to the center with a claw set Old European cut diamond. Each diamond is encircled by six individually set cabochon cut opals, completing the cluster designs. The elliptical frame conjoining each floral cluster is embellished with two claw set round faceted cut rubies to the center of the arch. The Victorian bar brooch features an individual eight claw set round faceted cut ruby decorated terminal to either end. The brooch secures with a hinged pin and clasp to the reverse. The brooch is fitted to an impressive hinged leatherette presentation box, with a satin and velvet lined interior, securing with a push fit catch. This opal brooch has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as 15 karat gold. This impressive Victorian brooch is supplied with an independent diamond grading report card. Condition This impressive brooch is excellent quality, set with impressive opals displaying a scintillating play of color. The impressive rubies displaying fine color and brilliance. The supporting diamonds display a fine white color and brilliance. The exterior of the box is in presentation condition; the interior of the box shows wear in keeping with age. The brooch is an excellent gauge of gold and is in excellent condition.
