Antique 15K Gold Georgian/Victorian Hardstone Cameo Gentleman's Portrait -c.1830
About the Item
We are delighted to offer this wonderful 15ct gold Georgian or Victorian hardstone cameo made around the bordering period of late Georgian to Early Victorian c.1830-40s.
The cameo features a side profile of a Georgian gentleman which is intricately and engraved on a dark brown hardstone background.
Despite its small size, the detailing of the facial features, hair and overall proportions are very eye-pleasing and a testament to the quality & craftsmanship of this cameo. The engraving remains very crisp for its age and it can certainly be fully appreciated and felt when running your fingers across the relief.
We believe that unlike other jewellery forms (such as rings & gem cuts etc) cameos present a unique medium for artisans to showcase their artistic skills and techniques, slightly closer to the likes of paintings and sculptures. As such, the more elegant, lifelike and endearing an engraving is, it tends to become more valuable and desirable.
The border and mount of the cameo are made from solid 15ct antique gold and present a lovely slightly darker tone gold in line with Georgian period gold items.
The reverse side of the brooch features a c-clasp pin which appears to have some old solder reinforcements.
Understated in size yet distinctly elegant; we believe such brooches are not only collectable antiques but an excellent accoutrement to your wardrobe. When paired with shirts, jumpers or coats this brooch would make for a wonderful conversation starter and an opportunity to share your passion of antiques.
The brooch is unmarked as is common with pieces of the period however we have tested it for 15ct+ high-carat gold.
All of our jewellery come with a complimentary hard shell gift box with a velvet interior.

- Antique Victorian Diamond and Ruby 15K Gold Cockerel/Rooster/Chicken Brooch PinLocated in London, GBWe are delighted to offer this endearing and adorable antique Victorian brooch made c.1890. The brooch is fitted in a period box and we will include this in the price of this listing. This pin brooch is made in 15ct solid gold and features an intricate gem set cockerel head with old rose cut diamonds and a single ruby cabochon as its eye. The head is made and set in solid silver to enhance the diamonds' white shine and lustre. Whilst undeniably sweet and dainty, the craftsmanship is superb and very impressive - due to its small size, it can only be further appreciated upon seeing how detailed each element is with a loupe or magnifying glass. The accuracy and lifelike shape of the head despite its small size is a testament to the silversmithing and the manner in which all the gems have been set as if to replicate feathers is certainly an artistic virtuosity. Furthermore, the wattle of the cockerel features a very small yet accenting orange/red enamel that contrasts and completes the entire look. A modestly sized yet outstanding piece of fine Victorian animal jewellery...Category

- Diamond & Chalcedony Flower Brooch Translucent 15k Gold Floral DesignLocated in London, GBWe are delighted to offer this delightfully artistic 15ct gold diamond and chalcedony bar brooch made c.1929. Captivating upon first glance, this brooch features a spectacular hand-carved chalcedony flower in the centre which has been meticulously engraved, presenting a life-like naturalistic design with a 'tiered' petal design. Furthermore, the gemstone's colour, opacity and fitness are wonderfully intricate with the carved flower being translucent and letting light through. Depending on the weather, lighting and what is worn behind, the chalcedony's lustre varies and the translucency truly captivates the delicate and lively attributes of floral and natural beauty. To complete the look, a sparkly single diamond is stylishly mounted in the centre of the petals, contrasting the overall colour and drawing the viewer's eyes to the centre of the brooch. The brooch setting is made from 15ct solid yellow gold and the pin is made from 9ct solid gold. An absolutely delightful piece of naturalistic and skillfully crafted jewellery ideal for the discerning gem lover, particularly of embellished stones. Further, upon wearing it with light and floral clothing, we believe it is a perfect match and a statement piece in its own right. The brooch is marked 15ct/9ct on their respective parts. This brooch comes with its original fitted box as photographed in the images. Size & Total Weight 5x1cm 2.47g /0.08 oz t Condition: Excellent vintage condition with no issues.
