Antique Victorian 15K Yellow Gold Pearl and Diamond Moon and Star Stick Pin
About the Item
A Victorian pearl, diamond, and yellow gold stick pin, comprising seven half seed pearls, and one old European cut diamond, set in 15 karat yellow gold, with a 9 karat yellow gold pin.
My favourite thing about this Victorian 15K Yellow Gold Moon and Star Stick Pin, is the sparkling old cut diamond. What’s yours? Perhaps the shimmering pearls? Or the celestial design?
This lovely stick pin is designed as a pearl set moon, accompanied by a diamond set star. The crescent shaped moon is set with 7 seed pearls, graduating in size. The pearls are a pale grey in colour and are lustrous and well-matched with one another. The 5-pointed star is set to the centre with a sparkling old European cut diamond. The diamond is bright, whiter, and sparkly, making the perfect glittering star. The head of the stick pin has a bloomed finish, where a solution is used to remove the alloys in the top layer of gold, leaving a fine layer of pure gold, which gives a luxurious finish. The pin, too, is in yellow gold. The stick pin is in good condition, at some point in its life, the pin has been reattached, and there is evidence of old solder to the back of the head of the pin. Wear and tear acquiescent with age.
The head of the stick pin measures 10.6mm wide, 10.9mm long, and 2.2mm deep (excluding pin). The pin is 1mm wide, and the stick pin measures 60mm long overall.
