Antique Victorian 15K Yellow Gold Turquoise Lovers Knot Memorial Locket Brooch
Located in Staines-Upon-Thames, GB
A yellow gold and turquoise brooch, comprising fourteen turquoise cabochons, set in 15 karat yellow gold, with three swagged lengths of chain and a locket compartment, and fittings in 15 karat yellow gold.
This stunning brooch is beautiful in its Victorian design. Fashioned as a knot, there are delicate feather-like details across the piece. The brooch is set with vibrant turquoise cabochons, which have been bezel set and contrast wonderfully with the warm tone of the yellow gold. Swags of wheat-link chain are suspended from the bottom of the brooch, with the third holding an oval pendant. The oval pendant is adorned with further feather-like details and 2 floral sprays and is centrally set with another turquoise cabochon. The back of the pendant is a glass covered locket, making this a memorial pendant. The brooch is fitted with a hinged pin in silver, and C-shaped safety catch in gold. The brooch is in great condition, with one chip to the bottom of the locket glass...

Antique Victorian Diamond Brooch Crescent 14K Gold - c.1890
Located in London, GB
We are delighted to offer this stunning antique Victorian diamond brooch made c.1890.
The brooch is made from solid 14ct gold and in spectacular Victorian fashion. Featuring a crescent design, profusely decorated with fine old cut diamond of tapering sizes on a silver faced mount, the brooch is most certainly an attractive and distinguished in design.
Celestial jewellery was increasingly vogue during the Victorian era as renewed fascination of stars & heavens carried into fashion and goldsmithing. The crescent moon was a symbol of the Greek God Selene, representing of a feminine empowerment and change just like the phases of the moon.
In addition to such symbolism, insect designs also offer the perfect opportunity to display high level goldsmithing, with intricate and fine gold/silver mounts, curves and angles to ensure the diamonds dazzle in their finest light.
Owing to its silver front, the diamonds and its mount have a uniform chic appearance; lively and stylish yet not too ostentatious. This brooch most certainly makes for a distinguished and discerning choice to wear with a variety of clothing.
The reverse side of the brooch has a pin which allows it to be worn with jumpers, jackets or coats.
The brooch is unmarked as is common with articles of this period and as such we have tested it for gold indicating 14ct gold.
Not only would this piece make for an excellent collectable/display but also serves as a wonder piece of antique Victorian celestial...
