Art Deco Aquamarine, Ruby and Diamond Double Clip Brooch in Platinum
About the Item
A beautiful Art Deco aquamarine, ruby and diamond double clip convertible brooch set in platinum.
The brooch depicts a bow motif and is set with approximately 310 individual stones. The top of the bow is pave set with transitional and round brilliant cut diamonds, which flow to the centre where we see baguette diamonds and rubies. These baguettes travel down throw the brooch and act as a boarder against the sky-blue aquamarines. The brooch is composed from a simple brooch fitting that has been handcrafted to perfectly fit the two clips sides. The clip allows the two ends of the bow to be separated and worn in different positions.
The beauty of this brooch all lies with the design. The design reflects that of the Art Deco era displaying pure elegance with fine platinum metal work. The vibrancy of the aquamarines against the rubies is superb and stands out beautifully. Due to the brooch being convertible this gives the wearer that versatility to wear and enjoy the piece multiple ways.
Being Art Deco, only few, if not only one of these brooches would have been made making this piece a true one of a kind exclusive!
There is an estimated total diamond weight of 6.70 carats, ranging from F-I in colour with VVS-VS clarity. There is an estimated total aquamarine weight of 3.92 carats, all of which being perfectly matched in colouring. Lastly there is an estimated ruby weight of 1.46 carats. When pieced together, the brooch measures 5.7 x 4.9 (from the widest parts) and there is a total weight of 51.6 grams. Typical of the era, the brooch is not hallmarked but has been tested for platinum. A valuation for insurance will outline the details of the piece. Circa 1920's.
