THIS IS A STUNNING ANTIQUE SNAKE BROOCH IN THE FORM OF A CURLING SNAKE IN FINE SILVER IN AN OPEN WORK DESIGN. THE HEAD AND EYES OF THE SNAKE ARE SET WITH GREEN CHRYSOPHRASE GEMS.
The snake brooch has wonderful design and Art Deco - Mid-Century style. Its body is an open work fully modeled three dimensional design. Its head has beautiful engraved details. The combination of the wonderful silver work with the green Chrysphrase gems is exquisite and evokes and the mystery and glamor of the snake.
And snake jewelry is all the rage today. In the Victorian era the snake was the symbol of eternal love. It has come to symbolize sexuality, rebirth and wisdom. The brooch dates to the Art Deco period, circa 1900-1940.
The brooch is 3 inches (7.5 cm) long and is 1 1/2 inches (4 cm) tall.
