About the Item
Art nouveau enamel Orchid pendant-brooch.
An exceptional, oversized and three-dimensional pendant brooch, created in America during the Edwardian and the Art Nouveau periods, back in the 1910. This rare beautiful piece has been carefully crafted in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with a high polished finish. Embellished with applications of fired metallic enamel, with fabulous gradations of red colors. This piece has exquisite details with exceptional enamel work, far exceeding the details of the fibers and veins of the leaves. It is fitted at the reverse with a horizontal hinged pin bar with a mechanical security lock to wear as a brooch and a ring on top to be wear in a chain or necklace.
Diamonds: Mount in a bezel and four-prongs settings, with 2 round brilliant cut diamonds, 0.52 carats, white colorless F color, VS-2 clarity.
Weight: 32.35 Grams (20.74 Dwt).
Measurements: 51 mm by 40 mm by 12 mm (2.01 x 1.58 x 0.47 Inches).
Hallmarks: Unmarked as usual but electronically tested for 18kt gold, (.750/.999 Au.).
Edwardian Jewelry
This period was during the King Edward VII, after whom this period of jewelry history is named, reigned over England for only nine years, yet the style of jewelry known as “Edwardian” was created roughly between 1890 and 1920. Edwardian-era rings tend to be larger, opulent pieces, and stacked ring designs were popular. The metal surfaces of the rings were often diamond-encrusted for additional shimmer. Each of these rings is a work of art, showcasing a bygone era of grace, elegance and the royalty the Edwardian era is named for.
