About the Item

Colorful enameled butterfly brooch. Beautiful and very colorful butterfly brooch, created in Italy back in the 1970. This unusual brooch has been crafted in the shape of a Monarch butterfly in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with high polished finish. The wings are embellished with applications of multicolored enamels over a guilloche surface. It is fitted at the reverse with a hinged pin bar with a trombone style security lock. Monarch Butterfly Monarchs butterfly have a remarkable long-distance migration. In North America, monarchs overwinter in both Mexico and along the California coast. A monarch can fly up to 2,700 miles (4,345 km). With the same weight to distance ratio, that would be the same as a robin flying to the moon and most of the way back. Diamonds: Mount in a flush setting, with 6 European round cut diamonds, 0.15 carats, white colorless G color, VS/SI clarity. Birthstone: For the month of April. Weight: 22.85 Grams, (14.65 Dwt). Measurements: 52 mm by 47 mm (2.05 x 1.85 Inches). Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark, the Italian mark for the assay of the gold and signed, "ITALY 18KT". Note: Guilloché is used in fine jewelry to enhance the appearance of brooches, rings and pendants. Guilloché enamel refers to metal pieces that have been given the Guilloché treatment and then covered with a translucent layer of enamel, giving the geometric patterns underneath the enamel a colorful hue.
