An Art Nouveau Gold Dragon Stick Pin

About the Item

An Art Nouveau gold stick pin, depicting a dragon holding one round seed pearl in its jaws and another seed pearl in its claws, circa 1890, the jewelled part measuring approximately 1.1x1.45cm, the pin measuring 5.5cm long, gross weight 1.2 grams. This antique pin is in very good condition for its age. Unmarked, tested as 15ct gold with 9ct gold pin. An art nouveau gold and pearl dragon stickpin which comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. This stick pin comes the aesthetic period in Victorian jewellery, where designs become more simplistic and smaller, pearls become increasing popular and manufacturing meant that jewellery was widely available. Dragons were quite a popular motif during this period alongside crescent moons and stars. This unusual stick pin would make a fun addition to a silk tie or the lapel of a jacket. Should you choose to make this purchase we would be delighted to send it to you in a Bentley & Skinner handmade leather case packed in a gift-wrapped Bentley & Skinner black and gold presentation box. Shortly afterwards we will send you on a valuation for insurance purposes for your reference and safekeeping.
