About the Item

This is a magnificent Museum Quality Arts & Crafts Jugendstil Brooch from the estate of legendary philanthropist and collector Jacqueline Loewe Fowler, whose jewels are in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The brooch is of scrolling oval form with wirework. The jewel is set with moonstone, coral and blue enamel with agate bead drops. The brooch is signed J.K.D. The extraordinary pieces is a superb example of Arts and Crafts jewelry. The open scroll work is stunning. The two round cabochon Moonstones are accented by a coral cabochon, blue enamel, and three round agate drops with an agate at the top. The brooch is 830 silver which is very typical of Continental pieces from this period. The height is 2 5/8 inches (7cm), and the width is 2 1/2 inches (6.5cm). Provenance: From the Estate of the esteemed collector and philanthropist Jacqueline Loewe Fowler whose collections are featured in the Metropolitan Museum of Art as well as many others.
