Brooch Phoenix Bird Enameled 18K Gold Phoenix Bird
About the Item
Whimsical and eccentric, this magnificent 18K yellow gold brooch depicts a phoenix bursting with enameled color. A ribbon of white gold set with tiny, brilliant diamonds streaks through the features, creating a sense of shining light. A small ruby cabochon forms the eye of the bird.
This jewel came from a recent collection I acquired from South America. And like all the other pieces in the collection, it appears to show little or actually no sign of prior use. It is pristine.
It is also slightly eccentric. Not feeling like such a proverbial phoenix rising from the ashes today? Just feeling sort of...stuck? No worries: the bird's head detaches, with the came box clasp a bracelet might have. I don't know why it detaches other than to create a more abstract and less figural piece.
It measures 70mm x 50mm and weighs 19.19 grams.
The craftsmanship is exquisite. I cannot identify a maker's mark. I believe it was created in South America in the 1960s.
