About the Item

An Edwardian crescent moon pendant-brooch. This is a majestic Crescent moon pendant brooch, created in America during the early Edwardian period, back in the 1900. The fabulous and stunning celestial piece has been crafted with impeccable details in solid yellow gold of 18 karats. The piece is embellished with forty-seven earth mined natural gemstones, such; European rose cut diamonds and royal blue sapphires. The piece convertible and is fitted at the reverse with a hinged pin bar with a hook to wear as a brooch and a screwed ring (removable) to wear in a chain. This brooch retains all the original antique patina and by sure will be an eye stopper. Crescent brooches of this size and quality are rare, and this one would make a stunning addition to any fine antique jewelry collection. Crescents Moon Jewelry The crescent moon meaning in jewelry has been considered a symbol of protection, transition, and new beginnings due to its waxing and waning cycle, which represents both the time before something new begins and after it ends. This cycle can also be seen as representing life’s journey from darkness into light; it offers guidance to those who lost on their path and reminds us there is always hope in trying again. Sapphires: Mounted in double four-prongs settings, with 15 graduated oval faceted cuts of natural vivid royal-blue sapphires, with a total weight of about 4.75 carats. The sapphires suite is graduated from 0.06 to 1.05 carats approximate and are not heated or treated. Birthstone: Sapphires for the month of September. Weight: 9.75 Grams, (6.75 Dwt). Measurements: Diameter of 42.5 mm (1.67 Inches). Hallmarks: The pin is stamped inside a rectangle with the mark for the assay of the 18kt gold as follow: "18". The Edwardian Jewelry The Edwardian Jewelry Period was during the King Edward VII, after whom this period of jewelry history is named, reigned over England for only nine years, yet the style of jewelry known as “Edwardian” was created roughly between 1890 and 1920. Edwardian-era jewelry pieces tend to be larger, opulent pieces, and stacked ring designs were popular. The metal surfaces of the pieces were often diamond-encrusted for additional shimmer. Each of these jewelry pieces is a work of art, showcasing a bygone era of grace, elegance, and the royalty the Edwardian era is named for.
