Crown Trifari 1950s Vintage Unisex White Pearls Openwork Criss Cross Round Circle Disc Chunky Elegant Modenist Brooch, Gold Tone
Very good condition, some of light colour loss or scratches, still beautiful and good to wear. 100% genuine.
A very beautiful brooch, signed at the back.
Material: Gold plated metal, Faux pearls.
Size: 5.5*5.5 cm.
Weight: 38 g.
Crown Trifari created some of the most desirable costume jewellery of the twentieth century, many of its designers having trained and designed at Van Cleef & Arpels and Cartier.
Amongst them was Alfred Phillipe who joined Crown Trifari in 1930 as head designer and Andre Boeuf another celebrated signature designer from Cartier who became lead designer in the 60s once Alfred Phillipe retired.
The company patented its own non-tarnish metal, calling it Trifanium.
Crown Trifari is becoming one of the world's most recognisable names in vintage jewellery having produced exceptional designs, craftsmanship and quality.

Gripoix for Chanel Barbaric Medieval Round Brooch

Chanel's Barbaric Medieval round brooch of unusual and irregularly claw set poured glass emerald, ruby and sapphire irregular cabochons and prong set crystal strasses. This brooch is from the period when Chanel jewels were still made completely by hand. This Maison Gripoix brooch demonstrates the technique and quality available to the Chanel ateliers in the early 80's under Karl Lagerfeld.
Each "stone" is of hand poured glass by Maison Gripoix, but, more significantly each prong is hand crafted prior so that these molten drops of glass can fit within them to give the appearance of "claw set" stones. The entire brooch is then backed on a gilded bronze back plate which acts like a mirror or reflector in giving these the glass stones "life" as raw tumbled emeralds, sapphires and rubies.
It was Mlle Chanel's wish to elevate "faux" jewelry and this is clearly demonstrated in this instance. It takes extraordinary technique and experience at the jewelers bench...
