This is an absolutely stunning antique Victorian - Belle Epoque Shell Cameo Brooch Pin with a high relief carving of a Cherub,Cupid, Angel, or Eros set in a beautiful braided motif halo in 18 Karat Yellow Gold.
The cameo is of extraordinary beauty. The cameo is the work of a master artisan. The Eros or Cupid is beautifully carved with very high three dimensional relief and delicate details. The cherub's wings are extraordinary. His face is exquisite. The legs are beautiful and wonderfully framed by the drape of the tunic.
The cameo is set in a beautiful braided setting in 18 Karat Gold. The cameo brooch could be easily converted to a pendant if desired.
Cameo jewels are all the rage today and this is one of the most beautiful carved gems we have seen. The Cherub is a delicate romantic jewel of the utmost beauty and style. The cameo brooch dates to circa 1850-1900.
