French Double Lillypad Brooch
About the Item
A French double lillypad brooch, the gold carved lillypads set with old brilliant-cut diamonds pierced by a gold bar decorated with a pearl, circa 1900, measuring approximately 4.7x2cm gross weight 6.0 grams.
This lovely antique turn of the century lillypad brooch is from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. The centre of the lillypads is formed of two old brilliant cut diamonds and elegantly held together by a lustrous pearl-set gold bar. This brooch is emblematic of the early Edwardian period, when naturalistic motifs became popular, and should be worn on the lapel of a smart boucle summer jacket.
This antique brooch is in very good condition for its age. Unmarked, tested as 18K gold.
