A Georgian diamond-set en tremblant butterfly brooch, the body set with five large old mine-cut diamonds graduating in size with the larger estimated to weigh 1 ½ carats, the openwork wings set with small old mine and Perruzzi-cut diamonds, the diamonds estimated to weigh a combined total of 8 carats, all cut-down and rubover-set in silver to yellow gold mount, with gold spring and brooch fitting, circa 1800, measuring 5.6 x 3.9cm, gross weight 15.9 grams. This antique brooch is in very good condition for its age. Unmarked, tested as silver and 18ct gold, with 9ct gold pin. This fine Georgian en tremblant butterfly brooch is adorned with five large old-cut diamonds, gracefully graduating in size, while its openwork wings shimmer with small, dazzling diamonds. Mounted on an en tremblant setting, showcasing rare and masterful craftsmanship, and heightening the playful sparkle of the diamond, this brooch is a testament to the advanced artistry of circa 1800.
