Late Victorian Diamond-Set Fox Stick-Pin
About the Item
A late Victorian diamond-set fox stick-pin, the realistically carved fox head set with rose-cut diamonds and cabochon-cut ruby-set eyes, all set in silver to yellow gold back and pin, circa 1890, the jewelled part measuring 1.4 x 1.1cm, gross weight 4 grams.
A whimsical and delightful stock pin featuring a fox’s head set with rose-cut diamonds. The diamonds are wonderfully characterful, catching the light well. The eyes of the fox are two glinting rubies. This handsome piece, made in the late nineteenth century, may have been worn as a reference to the fox hunt. It comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales and makes a charming lapel accessory.
