One of a Kind Spider Brooch by Vanessa Cocchetto of Talys Jewels

About the Item

Presented is a unique and one of a kind spider brooch by Vanessa Cocchetto for Talys Jewels of Venise, Italy. The brooch is Vanessa's interpretation of the Egyptian spider goddess Asibikaashi. The Spider Goddess was created to help the wearer keep dreams, positive thoughts close and empower them to achieve their goals through ideas, visions and dreams. Negative dreams, at the first light of dawn, are held back and positive dreams that slide to us through the feathers. Vanessa Cocchetto's pieces are sculptural wearable works of art and design. Each is an extraordinary examples of fine Italian goldsmith work. The body of the spider is a 30 cm long twisted and wrapped ring of fossilized wood, dating to about 250 million years and came from Madagascar. The metal of the spider is rhodium-plated brass measuring approximately 5.5 inches in diameter. The four eyes of the spider are zircons of 0.19 carats each. Inside the fossilized wood ring is a willow dream catcher, as per tradition, set with a natural fancy yellow pear shape diamond of 0.27. At the end of the front leg of the spider is a detachable 4.3 inch earring / pendant dream catcher in silver (22.80gr) centrally set with a 0.19 carat natural fancy round orange brilliant cut diamond. The chain, hanging from the dream catcher, has been enriched with Venetian glass beads from the 1960s and two natural Akoya pearls. This jewel was inspired by the legend that speaks of Asibikaashi, the spider woman, protector of all creatures, the great mother who wove her web over the cradles of children to trap their nightmares and make them live in the world of dreams. Protect a child as only a mother can do, in one of the most delicate moments of the day and of life. Help make dreams come true.
