About the Item

An art deco brooch designed by Raymond C. Yard. Fantastic circular brooch, created in America during the art deco period by the master jewelry designer Raymond C. Yard, back in the 1930's. This rare and elegant round brooch was carefully crafted in solid .900/.999 platinum with high polished finish. It is embellished with a great selection of natural and earth mined gemstones, such fifteen large Burmese rubies and fifteen white colorless diamonds. Fitted at the reverse with an horizontal stick bar and a mechanical safety lock. Note: We are offering in our other listings, the circular earrings en suite matching this round brooch. Rubies: Mounted in channel settings, with 15 French calibre faceted cut of natural Burmese vivid red rubies, with a total weight of 3.77 carats. Diamonds: Mounted in French pave settings, with 15 calibrated round brilliant cut of natural diamonds, 1.05 carats, white colorless E/F color, VS-2 clarity. Weight: 7.32 Grams, (4.72 Dwt). Measurements: The diameter is 34 mm (1.34 Inch). Hallmarks: They are both stamped with the maker's mark, the mark for the assay of the .900/.999 platinum and the white gold, the serial numbers and signed, "YARD 9092X PLAT- 14KT". Raymond C. Yard Raymond C. Yard began his career in the jewelry business in 1898 as a door boy at Marcus & Co. It was during this period that the newly affluent American industrial families began to patronize American jewelers like Tiffany & Co. Yard was encouraged by John D. Rockefeller, Jr., to open his own company. Rockefeller recommended the Yard firm to his family and connections, and shortly Yard was creating jewels for the Woolworth, Flagler, Dupont, Harriman, and the Vanderbilt families. The firm Raymond C. Yard, focused primarily on custom pieces for their clientele and was known for sourcing the highest quality of materials that his clientele demanded. Stock pieces were executed by the highest level of outside manufacturers, with Yard supplying the stones and designs. His creations exemplified the understated elegance of impeccable workmanship combined with the very finest of materials.
