Roger Jean -Pierre Massive Depose Clip Brooch

About the Item

Roger Jean -Pierre massive, dimensional clip brooch of trefoil design set with faceted jet rectangles, hot pink and opaque pink Swarovski stones. The body of the clip brooch is set in antique silver gilt. Marked Depose. Beautiful quality. Excellent condition. Roger Jean-Pierre began designing for Schiaparelli in 1934 – 1939. He then began working for Jean Clement designing fashion accessories. After the war, 1947 – 1958, he was director of Maison Francis Winter where he collaborated on jewelry and accessories for Dior, Balenciaga, Gres, Balmain and Lelong. 2500 models were designed and produced each year. Shown first to the haute couturiers these were signed either Winter or Jean-Pierre. The remaining models were shown to lesser couturiers and department stores. In 1960, Jean-Pierre opened his own atelier in Paris. His inspirations at the time were fine pieces from the 18th century and Edwardian workmanship. Jean-Pierre always constructed the prototype pieces which were then copied by his assistant. His own pieces used a paper label “Roger Jean-Pierre Made in France”, which were sold at department stores like Saks, Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and Marshall Field. He also designed for Dior and Balenciaga. He was advisor to Coro for 5 years on the Vendome line. In 1976 after he lost his wife and step-son, he “didn’t have the head for designing jewelry any more, and I was 65 years old so I closed my atelier.”
