Victorian 18K gold coral cameo brooch with ivy leaves and natural seed pearls

About the Item

For sale a rare red coral cameo brooch mounted in 18K yellow gold, crafted during the Victorian era, circa 1850s. This exquisite brooch is a true testament to the artistry of a bygone era, boasting a design that captivates the heart and imagination. At its center, the brooch features a stunning red coral cameo, meticulously carved to depict a graceful female figure. The true uniqueness of this brooch, however, lies in its exceptional design – an intricate frame of ivy leaves rendered in vivid green enamel. These ivy leaves carry a profound symbolism, representing fidelity and eternal love/life. Just as ivy clings steadfastly to its support, these leaves embody unwavering loyalty and enduring existence. Adding an extra touch of opulence, 24 natural seed pearls are carefully adorned among the ivy leaves. These pearls, resembling the berries of the ivy, infuse the brooch with a natural elegance and refined beauty that was characteristic of the Victorian era's jewelry designs. The brooch has double French owl hallmarks for 18K gold. Delving into the brooch's secrets, one discovers a charming surprise: a delicate door adorning the back, discreetly hinged to open. This ingenious feature transforms the brooch into a locket of sorts, allowing the wearer to remove the precious coral cameo. The space thus revealed becomes a canvas for personalization – perhaps a cherished photograph. The thoughtful inclusion of this feature invites speculation into its purpose, prompting us to wonder about the stories and sentiments that may have been exchanged through this wearable keepsake. This truly beautiful rare brooch is destined to enrapture the heart of any antique jewelry connoisseur. It is a glimpse into the past, a testament to love, devotion, and the artistry of a bygone era. In front of us a very refined French work Victorian era enameled brooch, featuring a loving winged angel/cherub (a charming, chubby child with wings). We love his mischievous yet very sweet smile, colorful touch of grace, the extreme attention to the details as well as its symbolism: It is a well-known secret language for love, courage and guidance in the Victorian era. The colors used in the enamel show softness and tenderness: the mix of the pastel tones such as rose, blue and green is calming while heartwarming. We also appreciate the elegant mounting of this piece: the central panel is mounted in a 18K gold floral frame...

  • Antique 18k Gold LFG Certified Natural Pearl Diamond Bow Brooch
    Located in Versailles, FR
Elegant, beautiful and feminine, the bow is a fine jewelry motif that never seems to go out of style. The bow jewelry, also a traditional symbol of love and romance, is also a sentimental gift to offer or to receive. But this is not the only reason why we love this magnificent diamond bow brooch : this exceptional piece is made of two natural pearls, certified by LFG. (French gemological laboratory). Its certificate proves that the larger baroque pearl on the bottom, is a natural fresh water pearl in good luster; while the smaller round shaped pearl in the center of the bow is a natural salt water pearl in very good luster. The larger pearl is attached to the brooch by its original hoop system on the back - the pearl can be detached from the brooch to be worn as a pendant and the bow can be used to hold another piece such as a pocket watch. (please see the last photo to show you). People have coveted natural pearls as symbols of wealth and status for thousands of years. A natural pearl forms in a pearl-bearing mollusk with no human intervention or assistance. Pearl culturing, plastic buttons, and oil drilling...
