Ben Rosenfeld Mid-Century diamond and ruby duck brooch in 18kt yellow and white gold, English, 1960s. Made in 1961 and modelled as a mallard duck, the animal’s body in textured gold with a polished tail, the head and feet embellished with a Florentine finish, further accented with circular ruby and diamond eyes. This jewel is secured to reverse with a hinged pin and roller clasp fitting. Diamonds: six stones; single-cut; estimated 0.05 carats in total. Rubies: estimated 0.02 carats in total. Ben Rosenfeld was a British jewelry designer based in Hatton Garden, trading from around 1959 until 1987. The brooch has been modelled in the form of a stemmed flower. The centre of the flower is represented by a circular domed design, embellished with nineteen stunning claw set round faceted cut Burmese rubies. The domed centre is encircled by six yellow gold petals and a stem, embellished with matte textured decoration replicating the veins and organic details.
