Vintage Midcentury Colored Enamel Diamond 14 Karat Gold Pansy Brooch

About the Item

A vintage three pansy flower brooch set with old cut diamonds on 14k gold, circa 1950. A yellow and two purple pansies are set with old cut round diamonds weighing about 0.12 ct each (0.36 ct total). The pansies are enamel on 14k gold and long stems complete the brooch. The pin is 2.5 inches long and 1.25 inches wide. The pansies are each about .60 inches wide. The pin is a sentimental one, with the pansies having the meaning of remembrance. This references to the French verb, "pensee" which means "to think." In Victorian times, pansies were used in jewelry and given as gifts to ask the receiver to think of or remember the giver.
