About the Item
Brooch is designed as a winged fairy nymph - her figure is highly rendered in gold. With spread wings of glossed translucent and iridescent plique-a-jour and guilloche style enamel. Exhibiting no loss of ombré green, yellow, purple, pink, and blue color. Bezel set with old European cut diamonds weighing in total approximately 0.18 carat - G color with SI clarity. Completed by a pin stem with closure and a hooked bale for an optional drop. Stamped 18K for 18 karat gold. Maker's mark for Whiteside & Blank. Circa: 1905. Similar piece is on view at The Newark Museum. Published on the cover of The Glitter & The Gold. Measures: 1 1/4 x 1 5/8 inches. Total weight: 10.8 grams. Prolific. Nouveau. Staple.
