About the Item

A charming and unusual pair of cufflinks in the form of buckles rendered in solid, 18K yellow gold by Ugo Piccini Firenze. Established in 1952, the firm of Ugo Piccini is located on Florence's legendary Ponte Vecchio, home to the Renaissance city's best goldsmiths since the 16th Century. These cufflinks feature two examples of Florentine goldsmiths' craftsmanship: woven gold mesh and a painstakingly hand-engraved surface known as "Florentining." The buckles are attached to hinged, ribbed backs with hinged backs, enabling them to sit flat on the cuff and move with the wearer. The design and workmanship is outstanding. The buckles each measure 28.6mm long by 15mm high. Each cufflink is marked "750" indicating solid, 18K gold; the Italian maker's mark; and the signature, "U Piccini." Together the cufflinks weigh more than 18.5 grams. They are in excellent vintage condition.

An exceptional, fine and impressive pair of vintage 1980s Cartier cufflinks in 18 karat yellow gold and steel; part of our diverse vintage cufflink collections. These exceptional, fine and impressive vintage cufflinks have been crafted in 18k yellow gold and steel. The tapering, rounded anterior links are encompassed with alternating strands of yellow gold and steel, creating a threaded appearance; the yellow gold portions are subtly elevated. The steel posterior links have an oval cylindrical form with tapering terminals. The cufflinks articulate to the reverse via a yellow gold five link chain, securing to the posterior link with a yellow gold collar design. The reverse of the anterior links are each signed 'Cartier' and include the serial number 417320, and the reverse link incorporates the design name 'Cretacia'. These vintage Cartier cufflinks have been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as 18 karat gold and steel.
