About the Item

Coin cufflinks. Antique 2nd Cent BC Roman coins set in 21k gold bezels, styled with small diamond accents. Contemporary jewelry design by AB Jewelry NYC. Bold and masculine while inspired by history, these elegant cufflinks are created today for a modern man. I originally designed these for my husband and they continue to be his favorite. I am particularly proud of this design as it was chosen to be included in the first annual Jewelry and Metalsmithing Survey Vol. 1, recently released by the Society of North American Goldsmiths (SNAG). Where it appeared side-by-side with some of the well-known and admired artists. The inspiration for these cufflinks comes from the coins' imagery, the interpretive spirit of Modern Art, and ancient manual techniques of jewelry making, such as fusing, bezel setting, and metal forming. These techniques were introduced by pre-Classical Sumerian, Mycenaean, and Minoan cultures and built upon during Greek Classical and Hellenistic periods when naturalistic forms were introduced. My designs are influenced by the skill and the laborious attention to detail paid by the artisans throughout thousands of years of jewelry design.
