De Liguoro black & rhinestone pendant earrings from Elsa Martinelli's collection
About the Item
These show stopper earrings are from the personal collection of fine and costume jewelry of Italian actress Elsa Martinelli. Many of her pieces are by the fifty year old Italian jewelry company De Liguoro and designed by Gianni De Liguoro. The earrings are black plastic, rhodium plated and set with back and clear Swarovski rhinestones. The bead pendants have a black plastic top and bottom mounted on the pierced rhodium band set with the black and clear rhinestones. This lightens the weight and comfortable to wear. Each earring measures 3.5 inches long, 1.12 inches wide (in diameter) and weighs 26 grams. Signed on the back with the De Liguoro signature initials of D and L on the lace disk backing. De Liguoro has produced couture bijoux for over fifty years and an exhibition was dedicated to the company by the Museo del Bijoux in Casalmaggiore. The only museum dedicated to jewelry in Italy. Elsa Martinelli was always known from her incredible style and fashion sense. In 1953
Elsa was discovered by fashion designer Roberto Capucci and introduced her to the fashion world where Elsa became a model. Modeling lead to small roles in film. In 1954 the the film that made her an important name was "The Indian Fighter" playing opposite Kirk Douglas. In the 50s she married Count Franco Mancinell and began living between Europe and the USA working in film. though the 60s. By the 70s Elsa was apart of the smart set and had her second marriage to Paris Match photographer and Italian furniture designer Willy Rizzo. Her last appearance was in 2005 in the tv series Orgoglio as the Duchessa di Monteforte.
