Victorian Sapphire and Ruby Yellow Gold Earrings
About the Item
A stunning, fine and impressive pair of antique 0.35 carat sapphire and 0.27 carat ruby, 14 karat yellow gold drop earrings; part of our antique jewelry and estate jewelry collections
These stunning antique Victorian sapphire and ruby earrings are crafted in 14k yellow gold.
These tapering shaped earrings display a hand motif holding a wreath*.
The impressive wreath design is embellished with eight individually set round faceted cut sapphires, totalling 0.35Ct.
Each hand design is ornamented with a ring and bracelet, incorporating four mine cut diamonds.
The earrings are further embellished with an individually six-claw set ruby to the interior of the wreath and apex of the design, totalling 0.27Ct.
The overall design is completed with five articulated yellow gold drop, suspended from the lower border of the main setting.
These impressive antique sapphire earrings for pierced ears secure via a French hook, emanating from a crescent design to the upper border.
These Victorian earrings are supplied with an independent diamond grading report card.
The earrings have been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as 14k gold.
The style and composition of these pertain to 19th century American examples, however these earrings bear a late 20th century Italian maker's hallmark (star 631); it can be determined they were imported into Italy and hallmarked.
NOTE: * Jewellery incorporating hands became increasingly popular in the 19th century. A hand which held flowers or hearts symbolised friendship and romance, whereas those which held daggers represented protection. In Victorian symbolism a wreath embodied the loss of a loved one, however they were also used to betoken love victorious.
Images do not always reflect the true color and brilliance of gemstones and diamonds. The video however provides a truer representation of the actual color and showcases each stone.
Condition
These antique earrings are fine quality, set with impressive diamonds, sapphires and rubies displaying fine color and brilliance. The earrings are a good gauge of gold for their type and in excellent condition in keeping with age.
