21st Century 9 Karat Rose Gold and Diamond Round Cesellato Drop Earrings
About the Item
Modern-looking, yet 600-odd years in the making, these 9-karat rose gold earrings are produced using an ancient Albanian "cesellato" technique which was brought to Palermo, Sicily, in the fifteenth century. Centuries later, after Sicily has fused and merged jewellery-making techniques from many several different cultures; what has resulted is a technique that is almost exclusive to Palermo.
Hundreds of carefully selected diamonds, all rose-cut with nine facets, are hand-chiselled into the very slightly domed top of the earring, which is made of 925 silver. Lever-backed and heirlooms in the making, these earrings are 2.6 centimetres across and hang approximately 3.3 centimetres long. They weigh a total of 23.7 grams.

The FANCS V workshop is situated in the heart of Sicily's capital city, Palermo. The jeweller is a three-generation Sicilian family business owned and run by Simona Elia and her husband Natale Vitale. Created by Natale's grandfather, FANCS V has grown from a goldsmith shop into a design studio where Simona, who trained in Milan, contributes signature collections to complement the custom pieces Natale produces for a dedicated client base. For FANCS V, happiness is defined by the moment you receive your jewel and fall in love with it. Look for the company code PA266 stamped into all gold pieces, which indicate their authenticity.
