We are delighted to offer this stunning pair of antique Victorian 18ct gold emerald and diamond earrings, made c.1890. Captivating upon first glance and enchanting with a celestial theme, this pair most certainly combines all the best elements of Victorian flair and goldsmithing. The pair is made in the form of (half) crescents with the most elegant tapering of emeralds and diamonds, set from a wide end to an incredibly intricate point. Upon closer inspection, even the tip is adorned with one tiny diamond, a level of finesse rarely seen on contemporary pieces and a wonderful example and testament to the level of detailing and craftsmanship of the Victorian era. The emeralds and diamonds are set in a way that the gold setting and claws behind are hardly visible, making use of the entire surface space to display the gems in full splendour. The curved setting and tapering truly come to life upon wearing in natural lighting as each different angle and surface reflects light in a tantalizing manner. The largest emerald is approximately 0.2ct and the largest diamond is around 7 points. Total diamond estimate for the pair 0.6ct and emerald 1.5ct. Owing to its unique and stylish design, these earrings would most certainly grace a wide range of clothes and dresses even in the modern day. Furthermore, its shape allows it to be worn with either the point towards the front or towards yourself which can result in a different overall appearance. We are delighted to offer this stunning antique Victorian diamond brooch made c.1890. The brooch is made from solid 14ct gold and in spectacular Victorian fashion. Featuring a crescent design, profusely decorated with fine old cut diamond of tapering sizes on a silver faced mount, the brooch is most certainly an attractive and distinguished in design. Celestial jewellery was increasingly vogue during the Victorian era as renewed fascination of stars & heavens carried into fashion and goldsmithing. The crescent moon was a symbol of the Greek God Selene, representing of a feminine empowerment and change just like the phases of the moon. In addition to such symbolism, insect designs also offer the perfect opportunity to display high level goldsmithing, with intricate and fine gold/silver mounts, curves and angles to ensure the diamonds dazzle in their finest light. Owing to its silver front, the diamonds and its mount have a uniform chic appearance; lively and stylish yet not too ostentatious. This brooch most certainly makes for a distinguished and discerning choice to wear with a variety of clothing. The reverse side of the brooch has a pin which allows it to be worn with jumpers, jackets or coats.
