A rare and glorious feast for the eyes: this pair of platinum, gold, diamond, and grossular garnet earrings are a work of Mad-man brilliance. They are Art Deco in era but they defy that sleek, all-hail-the-machine aesthetic. They defy categorization of any kind, really. They are rather more an explosion of originality and creativity, impeccably restrained by consummate skill and goldsmithing techniques. From the top of the hand-forged platinum bail to the bottom of the jade-like grossular garnet dangle, the earrings measure approximately 53mm. Small, full-cut diamonds are collet-set all over the earrings and one 8mm x 2mm baguette diamond is set within a platinum milgrain-edged frame on the mid-portion of each earring. Hammered disks of satin-finish gold create an alien-floral surround for each 5.4mm round grossular garnet cabochon, while the reverse is constellation of some of the finest and most whimsically-elaborate goldsmithing artwork you will ever encounter. The triangular closure for the ear wires is capped by a diamond almost too tiny to measure yet not too tiny to be held within its own detailed collet setting. There is an attention to detail with these earrings (and their counterpoint ring which I have listed separately) that makes the mind reel. They are gorgeous, startlingly unique, extremely high-quality works of art that you can actually wear.
