Late Georgian Gold Day Night Earrings
About the Item
Most of the earrings of this period are extremely long; however, these are a marvelously wearable length of almost perfect proportions. Day night earrings, the pendant can be removed from the back to front ear wire. The top or surmount may be worn separately for a more subtle, less formal daytime look. For the more elegant evenings the drop is added.
Suspended from a Fleur de Lys shaped surmount with a typical back to front ear wire is a pendant drop detailed with foliate motifs and scrolled borders of rich repoussé work. Although quite grand in look, these are light and comfortable on the ear.
Measurements: 2 inches (5.1 cm) in length by ¾ of an inch (1.9 cm) at the widest. Weight of 7.5 grams for the pair.
