Paper: The central element in the creation of extraordinary feather-weight jewelry I started working as a goldsmith in 1979 in Italy and then moved on to designing pieces for a company specialized in exclusive jewelry handcrafted from carefully selected materials such as gold, diamonds and gems. By then paper had already become my favorite material, so my own creations became a combination of the rigorous methods I had been taught previously and paper as an amazingly versatile additional element. Widening my creative horizon was a crucial step for me. Its intrinsic softness and shock resistance make papier-mâché an ideal material for bold creations, as it allows for voluminous shapes and extraordinary lightness. Paper is a true chameleon: it can be coloured, gilded and treated in wide a variety of ways. This makes it an ideal partner for a number of other materials, such as gold, silver, pearls, tourmalines, emeralds, ruby and other gems in a mixture of shapes and colors that form unique, precious pieces of jewelry. Most of my Bodyfurnitures's jewelry is one-of-a-kind. In a few cases they are very limited editions. Each piece of this italian contemporary jewelry is created with uniqueness in mind.
