Surrealistic Effervescence Argentium Silver and 22K Gold Sculptural Earrings by Maria Blondet Surrealistic effervescence earrings features varied circular golden and silver forms representing floating bubbles. In this piece, the bubbles are starkly contrasted by unshut and sharp lines. The craftsmanship and harmonious use of opposites -- light and dark metals, positive and negative spaces, polished and textured finishes – are the distinguishing markings of Blondet’s unique pieces, as well as the key elements that breathe life into these handmade pieces. Inspired by the exuberant Caribbean landscape of her native Puerto Rico, María Blondet works daily at her studio in San Juan to create delicate works of art -versatile, combinable, and adjustable- that can be worn for any occasion. Crafted entirely by hand in Argentium silver 935, Gold 22K,18K, 14K with precious and semiprecious stones, Blondet’s designs are a combination of rhythm, texture and contrasting shapes and forms. This dedicated goldsmith inherits her artistry and passion to work with metals from her mother, sculptor Carmen Blondet. The affinity between mother and daughter is evident in their art, but their works contrast dramatically in scale –one creates monumental pieces of public art, the other, delicate pieces of jewelry. Blondet’s jewelry collections are unique and have caught the attention of a very discerning clientele that collects her pieces. MARIA BLONDET (creator/designer): Ever since I started creating art and jewellery, my vision, as a latin woman, has always been to create something beautiful to make myself feel important and empowered amongst the world. As other people started noticing my work, I began to see how that message seemed to seep through the metals and envelop them as well. I began to see that same spark I felt when creating my art in the eyes of those who wanted to buy it. That spark, seeing those strangers feel empowered by my work, moved me deeper and much more powerfully than I would’ve ever thought. Soon enough, I was making art in pursuit of that spark. Soon enough, they and their spark became the finishing piece of my art.
